Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

I am a semi-regular member of the phpLondon user group. I recently recorded the first UK conference organised by the group on Video and Audio last Friday. There were some sound issues with the University Sound system which will present a couple of problems in cleaining up the soud .. Lots of Hum to cancel out.

I also had the opportunity to shoot some stills of the event using a new Canon 350D (D-SLR)

ISU looms

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

So I’ve been rushing around like carazy these past couple of months… whats new ?? Well the International Sterescopic Union congress is next week. check out the ISU website

So there will be an international 3d presence happening locally, which has got be very excited, between feverously taking 3d images, i’ve been busy at work, trying to make some sens of the SiteCode project, but it will have to take a backseat whilst I immerse myself in 3d projections for a week!

My photography skills are coming along, I just ordered a set of IT8 targets from coloraid.de which should hopefully accompany my newwst purcahse a Minolta Dimage 5400 Elite Scan II ! I’ve even hacked one of the slide carriers so it can accept RBT stereo slide mounts.

All looking good so far.

I had better get back to scannning and work, as i’ve still got to wear my new hiking boots in for next week !

Ok, so i’m getting my head wrapped around stereoscopy … 3D and i’m loving it !!

Although making really great 3D images isn’t that simple, it can be quite effective with very little gear. I’m buidling a twin camera Rig built of two Canon T70 manual SLR cameras, this way I can ge effective shots with motion within them.

The image here shows the camera with a simple 3D lens mounted on the SLR, these kind of shots require a simple viewer for the 3D effect (known as parallel). This is where the left eye image is on the left and the right, logically is on the right.

My first anaglyph (red/cyan) 3D photo

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

I’ve been intrested in stereo photography for a while now, but this is the first time i’ve created a 3D stereo anaglyph image of my own, with a single lens digital camera.
You will need a pair of cyan/red 3D specs to view the image, enjoy ! (more…)

Set up Subversion Repository

Ok, so last time we looked at installing Subversion using Darwin Ports.

Now that its all installed, you’ll want to be getting your Subversion Repository set up, the way I dealt with this was to run

svnadmin create -fstype fsfs /path/to/repository

svnadmin is a binary that darwinports has built with the Subversion source code. You will want to choose a location for your repository, now that was something I had some difficulties in choosing. There were different blogs and tutorials suggesting various locations. I chose to locate the repository in an easily accessible backup location, therefore when I run a scheduled Retrospect script my repository gets backed up.
